Strictly Saturdays | The One With The Final

It has been the best Strictly, well, ever! Keeeeep Dancing!

The Terror of Knowing

It’s that time of year again – dust off your ballgowns, get out those sequins and glitter I know you have, or just get the snacks in and settle down for this year’s Strictly Come DancingThat’s right folks, everyone’s favourite prime-time British TV show is back! No, not Bake Off, the other one – the one where celebrities of varying degrees of apparent “fame” are paired up with dancers who have the thankless task of teaching them how to stop tripping over their feet and actually look graceful instead.

For this year’s Strictly, I happen to be in the fortune position of officially living with a fellow Strictly Come Dancing fan. This means only one thing – doubled-up live-blogging… because just bitching comments to each other verbally clearly isn’t enough – in this technological age, they must be recorded for posterity’s sake. So… that’s what this thing is.

The One when I realised Dave Arch is my (not so) secret, slightly inappropriate crush

It’s that time of year again – get out your spray cans, fish out the rhinestones and sequins I know you have stashed away, and grab the wineglasses – Strictly Come Dancing is back! Yep, you read that right, the nation’s favourite Saturday night show is back on TV. And while last night was really good, I do think Strictly makes a Saturday night, and Saturday nights are made for Strictly.

This year, I happen to be living with a good friend who is also a big Strictly fan and fellow blogger. This means only one thing – doubled-up live-blogging… because bitching comments and shameless perving shouldn’t just be reserved for our living room, it should be shared with the…masses?

Here’s how it works:
Each week myself and Emma will be bringing you a tag-team live-blog of Strictly Come Dancing. We will be alternating whose blog it is posted on so if you want to keep up-to-date with our clearly deeply insightful commentaries, then you should make sure you’re following both of our blogs.

Last week on Strictly (found here) we saw the exit of Judge Rinder, and with it, a little bit of the light and life went from the ballroom. I was never the biggest fan, I’ll be honest, but he loved it so much and he showed it through his face and his praise for Oksana. I’ll miss him!

This week, the strictly semi-final week is stepping up the risk factor with not one but two dances per couple. It’s going to be an exicting night…let’s get on with the show. Continue reading

Last week on strictly (which Emma posted all about here) was a Neil infested Blackpool extravaganza, that saw Greg and Natalie depart following an Olympic dance-off. I’m sad to see the back of Ed, but I am pretty glad that Natalie has gone. And of course, we got to see lots of Neil’s wonderful face, and shimmies.

Now, let’s get on with the show! Continue reading

Strictly Saturdays: The One where Strictly went Gangnam Style

I don’t want to get too carried away at the beginning of the post, but there was big news last week for our household. Laura and Giovanni finally bit the bullet, they are no more, finito, bye bye, never going to dance again, out of the competition, gone, finished, done, outta there. I’m ecstatic. We also are back to normal, just the two of us, in on a Saturday night.

So, now as the business end of the post is out of the way, let’s get dancing. Continue reading

Strictly Saturdays: The One With the Spooky Segway

It’s that time of year again – get out your spray cans, fish out the rhinestones and sequins I know you have stashed away, and grab the wineglasses – Strictly Come Dancing is back! For the first time since this year’s Strictly began, Emma and I will not be watching it together. She has returned to the North-East for a belated birthday trip home to see family and friends, and as the only one with a laptop, I’m taking on the Halloween special. Not only are we separate, but we’re attempting to coordinate this post online from opposite sides of the country, should be fun!

Last week, we had another controversial dance-off as Daisy And Aljaz took on Lesley and Anton, and it was Lesley Joseph that we said good bye too. It’s very sad, I liked Lesley and I will miss her a lot, but it was a fair decision as Daisy was much better on the results show.

The drama that was rife through last weeks show is so far absent this week, as everyone is back and dancing. As much as I dislike Laura and Giovanni, I never wish anyone is genuinely injured so it is good to hear that she is back, and Brendan has recovered from his illness, and is back (a big shout out to the beautiful and wonderful Gorka for filling in so gallantly last week) so we are back to a normal show this week.

Well, I say normal, there is a spooky vibe in the ballroom, because this weekend is the HALLOWEEN SPECIAL!! I’m just a little bit excited. There will be everything from bats to frogs, witches to mad professors, and about everything in between. I love the themed weeks, and the hilarious antics on Halloween week make it pretty much my favourite show of the series. And someone always steps up, turns a corner, so it should be an amazing show. And a stunning one, is Strictly’s Twitter and Instagram are anything to go by!!

So, enough of the preamble, bring on the ghouls, and let’s get on with the show!! Continue reading

Last week, we brushed over the results show, well, completely, as we both had the result spoiled and we just never quite got round to watching the show as we were sad that the lovely Naga and Pasha departed the show!

There is also a fair amount of Strictly drama doing into this week. Brendan was quite obviously sick last week, and while we both wish him a speedy recovery, it does mean that the lovely, wonderful, beautiful Gorka is back to dance with Anastasia. But that’s not all, oh no, Laura and Giovanni will also be absent this week due to Laura’s ankle injury. More on this later…

Now, that’s all of the announcements out of the way, let’s get on with the show. Continue reading

Top Ten Tuesday: All About the Villains

tttToday is the start of a week off from work. Today is the day that my parents go away on their (sort of) spontaneous cruise. Today is the day that Emma’s carpet arrives and work on her room begins to take shape. I’ve made today sound a lot more dramatic than it really it, if I’m honest! It must be the over-dramatic villainy in the air.

For all you lovely people who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved. click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish team together to produce a book related topic each week, and you simply list the top ten of that topic. Easy, even when you have work and relocation activities all day! Continue reading
