At the end of last year, I decided to compile a list of resolutions for 2017 in the hope of improving various aspects of my life. I set myself some rather large goals, and as I have a tendency to set them and the completely forget what they are, I have decided to check in with my progress over the year. So, now as a quarter of the year has gone, it seems like the perfect time to check my progress for January, February, and March. Just to recap, my New Years Resolutions can be found here. 2016 has been a mixed year overall really. I’ve really settled into a job I enjoy, and have got into a routine of making my way to work, maximising my day there, and making it home with minimal effort and wasted time. I’ve moved out into my own place, and I have welcomed the lovely Emma to Liverpool and our house, and I have travelled to some great new places. While 2016 has seen some global nightmares, questionable political decisions, and too many celebrity deaths to entertain, it has been a fairly solid year for me personally. I hope to continue this into 2017, and to help me a long I have made some resolutions to enter the New Year with. Continue reading
OK, so many of you (I say many…you know what I mean) may be feeling a sense of dejá vu right now. Yes, I have just posted a blog post with an identical title, all about books. But this year was a bad year of reading for me, so I also decided to do a TV shows and films one on a separate page.
For the (actual) final time this year, the lovely folks at Broke and Bookish team together to produce a book related topic each week, and you simply list the top ten of that topic. For all you lovely people who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved. click here. If you’re a regular participant, or a newbie, you should also check out Bout of Books for a fun-filled New Year readathon!
The 140 character review is a short and to the point tweet length review of, well, anything really (but mainly books, movies, live productions, and TV shows). It was born from a desire to review everything I watched, read, and saw, without committing to long length reviews. To see more, click here.
Today, I have continued with one of my favourite collections: The Marvel Universe. I decided to split it into 3 sections, Phase 1, Phase 2, and TV series, which will be released over 3 weekends. Two weeks ago, I reviewed Phase 1, last weekend was Phase 2, and this week I delve into the little screen: Continue reading
It’s that time of year again – get out your spray cans, fish out the rhinestones and sequins I know you have stashed away, and grab the wineglasses – Strictly Come Dancing is back! Yep, you read that right, the nation’s favourite Saturday night show is back on TV. And while last night was really good, I do think Strictly makes a Saturday night, and Saturday nights are made for Strictly. (For a round up of last night’s action, click here.)
This year, I happen to be living with a good friend who is also a big Strictly fan and fellow blogger. This means only one thing – doubled-up live-blogging… because bitching comments and shameless perving shouldn’t just be reserved for our living room, it should be shared with the…masses?
Here’s how it works:
Each week myself and Emma will be bringing you a tag-team live-blog of Strictly Come Dancing. We will be alternating whose blog it is posted on so if you want to keep up-to-date with our clearly deeply insightful commentaries, then you should make sure you’re following both of our blogs.
Now as the shameless promotion is out of the way, let’s get dancing: Continue reading
So, apparently Friday reads is all about announcing what you’re going to read, and then actually reading according to said announcement. I’ve, well, not been reading much lately. And by much, please read only necessary things for work, or frivolous procrastination efforts in the form of articles about Selasi from Bake-Off. I don’t know whether i am struggling with reading because of A Storm of Swords, or I’m struggling with A Storm of Swords because I am struggling with the actual act of reading a book.
So, in replacement of Friday reads, I am doing a Friday watches, which is essentially going to be a celebration of all things Fall TV, and their comebacks. Enjoy! Continue reading
I know I said that I was restarting this idea a couple of months ago, and then never actually did. But this time, I really am. I’m going to try and make it a regular Sunday posting on my blog. To give you an idea of what this is all about, click here.
I’ve also popped a few examples from posts gone by, with a link to the original 140 character review post: Continue reading
