Top Ten Tuesday: Best Audiobooks

There are so many ways to consume stories. Books are different when they’re read and when they’re heard and audiobooks hold a special place in bringing books to life. Whether it’s a story you wouldn’t have otherwise experienced or finished, a story that was brought to life in a new and interesting way, or a character embodied by the voice and personality of the narrator, audiobooks are and important part of my reading life and an under-appreciated reading format. Yes, audiobooks count!

I read a lot of audiobooks, I commute upwards of 1hr per working day, so I can listen to a few books a month in the car and while I am cleaning, and have discovered some hems over the last couple of years that I couldn’t wait to share.

Top Ten Tuesday: Backlist Books I Want to Read

Hello there, bonjour, hola, welcome to another edition of Top Ten Tuesday. I have been ‘travelling’ (eating) my way around the world showcase today and thinking about backlist titles I really want to read. I wasn’t even sure what a backlist title technically was, thankfully my friend works in publishing and filled me in. Turns out most of the books I want to read at the moment are backlist so it didn’t help filter them down too much, but I think I’ve managed to get it down to ten titles.

Top Ten Tuesday: Libraries and Book Stores I’d Most Like to Visit

I am a self-confessed bibliophile. I bloody love books. I love reading, I love libraries, I love book stores. I love almost everything there is to love about books. It’s probably a good job considering how much I talk about them. Top Ten Tuesday is all about connecting book lovers like myself with others, and that’s why this week’s theme is so awesome, because it’s all about other ways book lovers find new books and acquire new reads. I think we all have those book stores and libraries that we have always wanted to visit and admire, and I am the same, which is why I’ve been looking forward to this week’s top for a little while now!

Top Ten Tuesday: Longest Books I’ve Read

Good evening folks! Normal service has been resumed here at Travel in Retrospect, which means I have taken another of these great Top Ten Tuesday post ideas and twisted into something that works for me. This week, the topic is longest reads. I know that I have read quite a number of long books, and also know that this list would realistically be Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire only, so I decided to look at both longest books I’ve read, books I’m surprised were that long, books that were the earliest I remember diving into and books that were way way to long for there own good. What can I say, it’s a mixed bag as always!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Haven’t Read by Authors I Love

As I watch the Great British Bake Off and admire the biscuit chandeliers the contestants are making, I’ve turned my attention to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic. I think it’s safe to say that we all have favourite authors, and those authors are people who influence what we read. I have a habit of putting off reading all of the books by my favourite authors so I have something to look forward to, so this is a great list for me!

Fall TBR

It’s the middle of September and just a couple of days away from officially being Autumn. I can’t quite believe that we’re already into Fall. Pumpkin Spiced Lattés are already back on the menu, jumpers are coming out of the closet, and boots are back in the shops. I really love this time of the year, from now until New Year is definitely my favourite few months and this year, I get to through Disney into the mix too!

With autumn looming, I thought it was high time to construct a Fall TBR, and it so happened to coincide nicely with this weeks Top Ten Tuesday post. I have found it much easier to stick to TBRs this year than I have in the past, so I’m hoping to commit to reading a mix of books over the next few months to lessen my TBR and ARC piles. That’s the plan at least!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Should Have DNF’d

HI guys, I’m back doing things like Top Ten Tuesday, and thought this week as the time to start. I have actually turned this week’s topic round (Books you DNF’d too quickly) because I just don’t really DNF books. Once I have read a bit of a book, I give it a pretty good go to finish it no matter my level of enjoyment, so there are very few books I have actually failed to finish or purposely chosen to stop reading.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Loved But Won’t Re-read

There are some days when I look at my book shelves and think that I have lots of new and excited things to read, and why would I ever pick up a book I’ve read before ever again. There are some days when I look at my book shelves and think those books that I’ve read were so good that I just want to keep re-reading those books over and over again. And there are some days when I finish a book and think, that was so good that if I re-read it I would be nothing but disappointed.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set in Another Country

Wow, I am cutting it a little fine this week, but we have an hour or so left, so we have time to get through this! I’ve been in work today for the first time in a week, so I’m a bit all over the place in finding my feet. Isn’t it weird how that works so quick? Anyways, Top Ten Tuesday, yes that’s why we’re here, and this week is all about books set in other countries. Fun!
