#TheReadingQuest: Sign Up and TBR

Another week, another readathon, and this week I’m signing up for #TheReadingQuest. I came home from work today to find my housemate Emma constructing a TBR list with a game board and thought ‘I need to do this’, so here I am, way past the time I was planning to go to bed, writing a post. I say writing, much of this post is copied and posted from the original due to the rules, and complexity of the readathon. Now, that shouldn’t put you off folks, it’s my stupidity that needs the rules and regulations written somewhere I can easily find them.

This awesome readathon is courtesy of Aentee at Read At Midnight, so if you want more information, or to sign up and take part, please click on her blog name and be transported! The quest is set to take place between Sunday 13th August to Sunday 10th September, 2017. Continue reading

Friday Reads does Tome Topple 4: Sign Up, and TBR

I love me a good readathon, and folks, there’s a curling one coming up.  It’s time for Tome Topple, the readathon when bibliophiles like myself get all of our biggest books and attempt to read/weight lift these tomes together. It’s my second Tome Topple readathon, and last time (click here to view my posts from last time) I managed to read a couple of long books that I’d been meaning to for a while, so I’ve eyed up some longer books to go on my Tome Topple TBR.

So, what is it? Well, Tome Topple is a two week readathon created by Sam aka Thoughts on Tomes and this time the readathon is taking place from midnight in your timezone on 4th August until 11:59pm on 17th August. The aim of this readathon is to read big books, aka books over 500 pages aka “tomes”, so unlike many readathon, it’s about the number of pages in a book rather than the quantity of books you manage to finish over the fortnight. Want more information, you can watch Sam’s announcement video or check out the readathon Twitter page and/or the Goodreads group.

Friday Reads: 24 in 48 Readathon Sign-Up

So it’s that time again folks, time to over-commit to reading a ridiculous amount in 48hrs for the sake of good fun and a difficult challenge. I made that sound like no fun at all. I am actually super excited!! I took part in the last readathon in January (see here, and here). The premise of the readathon in super easy and very simple:  Try to read for 24hrs in a 48hr period this weekend. Seems easy enough to attempt, if you have the weekend off and stuff. And this time, I kinda do have the weekend off. It’s my Dad’s birthday on Sunday, so there is a family gathering for that, and I am back in work after a period of recovery from the car crash, so I’d like to feel ready for that, but otherwise, I’m good for trying to read for 24hrs this weekend. Book Haul #4

Soooooo, we’re here again already. In my defence, this book haul is only being posted so close to the last one because I was struggling with personal issues surrounding writing posts. I haven’t bought all these books in a couple of weeks  That said, it’s still a large number of books to admit to buying, or receiving, since the beginning of the year. Last time round, (view here) I admitted that I was buying lots of books and…well…that’s not changed. I’ve bought 21 books this haul. That’s not too b….who am I kidding, it’s bad. I’m loving it.

May/June: It’s a Wrap

OK, it’s been a little bit of time since I last did one of these posts. I was going through my posting funk at the end of May, so it completely slipped my mind to do a wrap host detailing all the books I read that month. I didn’t want it to slip by unnoticed, and I also didn’t want to have a gap on my blog, so I’ve decided to combine May and June on this post. A warning, a heads up, it’s gonna be a long one. Last time I posted a wrap was way back in April (click here to read) and I’ve read almost 25 books over May and June, so there’s lot’s to wrap!

I don’t usually start a posted a bit of a life update, but I decided in this case it is necessary. Over the last couple of months I’ve really struggled with posting, or posting regularly at least, and now I’m struggling to type at all. It’s got nothing to do the content or mental block, about 10 days ago I had a car crash. Don’t worry I’m fine, but it’s left me with a broken arm. Not only a broken arm; a broken right arm. And yes, you guessed it, I’m right handed. One thing this broken arm has taught me is that Google Docs now has a really handy speech recognition facility. It’s not perfect, but I thought I’d give it a go, well a second go, to finally produce the rap post that I wanted to do for a few days. It’s really hard to write and edit a post with a broken arm as it turns out.
