New Year, New Resolutions: Welcome 2018

2017 has been a mixed year overall really. It’s been a year of some really enjoyable highs, and some pretty crappy lows, and just about everything in between. On a global scale, the world is becoming unrecognisable, and uncomfortable; on a personal level, life doesn’t look nearly as rose-y as it did at this time last year.

My resolutions for 2017 proved quite eye-opening, and really showed me what my priorities are. It made me think about things that I find important, and regularly looking back at my resolutions in the form of quarterly check-ins kept my resolutions in the forefront of my mind, and made them more attainable. Emma, my friend/housemate/fellow blogger at The Terror of Knowing has some resolutions that cross over, so I think we can hopefully use each other to keep us accountable.

So, without further ado, my resolutions for 2018: Continue reading

New Year’s Resolutions: 2017 Round-Up

Can you believe that we are almost at the end of 2017 already? No, me either! It’s come round so quick. I feel like I say this all the time now, but it’s so true, time just seems to fly by. It’s been a real mixed bag, 2017 has dealt some awesome times, brilliant trips, but also unsettling news, and occasionally devastating blows. But enough of that, what about the resolutions I set at the beginning of the year? How have I done?

Just to recap, my New Years Resolutions can be found here, and have found that regularly checking in has helped me try and be accountable for the resolutions I made all the way back in January. Click here for a peek and a recap for 1st quarter check-in, 2nd quarter check-in, and 3rd quarter check-in.

Well, I am going to fill you in. I’ve decided to do a traffic light colour system this year. Green for completed, orange for given it a good go, and red for failed. Sounds simple?! Continue reading

New Year’s Resolution: 3rd Quarter Check-In

At the end of last year, I decided to compile a list of resolutions for 2017 in the hope of improving various aspects of my life. I set myself some rather large goals, and as I have a tendency to set them and the completely forget what they are, I have decided to check in with my progress over the year. At the end of March, a quarter of the way through the year, I posted a quarterly check in (which can be found here). I wanted to check back in and see how I was getting on with them, and it’s safe to say that it’s not exactly going to plan. In June, half way through the year, I decided to recap how the first half of the year had gone (click here to read). It was becoming apparent that I was only focusing on one or two resolution areas. And now, we’re three quarters of the way through the year and I still feel like I am failing at most of them, but, we’ll see.

Just to recap, my New Years Resolutions can be found here. Continue reading

New Year, New Resolutions: Welcome 2017

happy-new-year-champagne2016 has been a mixed year overall really. I’ve really settled into a job I enjoy, and have got into a routine of making my way to work, maximising my day there, and making it home with minimal effort and wasted time. I’ve moved out into my own place, and I have welcomed the lovely Emma to Liverpool and our house, and I have travelled to some great new places. While 2016 has seen some global nightmares, questionable political decisions, and too many celebrity deaths to entertain, it has been a fairly solid year for me personally. I hope to continue this into 2017, and to help me a long I have made some resolutions to enter the New Year with. Continue reading

2015 Bookish Resolutions

2015 is upon us, signalling a new year full of new challenges and of course, new resolutions. I completed a post all about my resolutions for 2015/2558 resolutions and New Years Eve here, so I won’t go repeating myself too much.

This post is all about my love for books, and my new resolutions regarding reading this year. I don’t know how many I am going to make, I expect quite a few, so let’s get started. Continue reading
