Avengers Readathon 2019 | Wrap Up

I think I am a little bit late with this wrap up. Oops. I was late with the sign up post though too so it’s following the right trend. This readathon was a lot of fun, and really made me read different types of books. The challenges were really thought through and it made for a great month’s reading!

MarvelAThon Wrap Post

It’s that time guys, where we look back at how well or badly we did during a readathon. And as far as wrap posts go, this is one of the better ones I have had the chance to write. This readathon came at the perfect time and was so well constructed by Jami @ Jami Shelves that I really embraced it and took part with gusto. I completed the readathon, which is awesome, and even better than that, I enjoyed buddy reading and experiencing different books and genres.

It was also the first time I ever really did the Twitter Thread form of updates. Usually, I just reguarly update a master post, but that can get a little tiring, and if I’m honest, isn’t my favourite way of doing things, so this time, I made a thread and ran with it. It’s such an instant way of keeping track of progress and sharing with everyone else taking part. I think I’m going to use it for all of my readathon updates in the future.

This amazing month-long readathon is being hosted by Jami and is her magical brainchild, and is taking place throughout the month of June; she deserves all the plaudits for creating an amazingly thought through readathon. Her readathon announcement post can be found on her blog: Jami Shelves but she can also be found at the twitter handle @jamishelves. It focuses on the films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and features challenges based on themes from the films plots.

MarvelAThon: Progress Report

I have found my reading mojo, and guys, it’s because of this readathon. It’s possibly my favourite readathon I’ve ever done. We’re just over halfway through this awesome readathon, and it’s just so fun and entertaining, and I’m reading a good variety of books, without reading anything for the sake of it. I’ve been updating my twitter thread regularly, but thought it would be nice to have a little look back at the books I have read and enjoyed, and what is yet to come.

MarvelAThon

Guys! GUYS! GUYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYS! I have some awesome news about a new readathon in town! It’s called Marvelathon, and in case you haven’t already guessed, it’s based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I found about it yesterday, which was also the day it started, but needed some time to think about the rules and the challenges and my TBR and twitter thread and not getting too over excited about a potentially super event!

Now, the rules and the challenges and what not. There are quite a few of them because there’s lots of films, so I’ll be copying a lot from the host’s post keep on track with all the correct info and the good stuff. This amazing month-long readathon is being hosted by Jami and is her magical brainchild, and is taking place throughout the month of June; she deserves all the plaudits for creating an amazingly thought through readathon. Let’s get started shall we?

T5W: Science Fiction and Fantasy Media Crossover

So, I’m back to posting the actual topic of the week, because this week there is an awesome crossover theme linking other forms of media other than books. I love me a good book, but, I also really enjoy a solid Science fiction world or foreign fantasy land, and done well they are equally as magical, and sometimes more memorable than those capture within the pages of a book. So, this week, I have embraced the Science Fiction and Fantasy crossover, and looked into some of my favourite SFF world’s in the media!

If you want to find out more, or take part in, Top 5 Wednesday, click hereto find Lainey and Samantha’s Goodreads page. Continue reading “T5W: Science Fiction and Fantasy Media Crossover”

Top Ten Tuesday: Romance Freebie | Favourite OTP’s

In the spirit of all things Valentine’s day and romance, Jana has thrown us a romance freebie. Sometimes, I really can’t be doing with a freebie week, and find it quite difficult to settle on a topic, but this time, I’ve embraced it whole-heartedly (heart ❤ geddit!). I was thinking of romance books, and just how much I don’t love a novel when the central theme is a romantic pairing, so I abandoned all notions of writing a list of my favourite romance stories, and decided to think about my favourite pairings.

For all of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved, click here. The lovely folks at Broke and Bookish teamed together to create this awesome weekly prompt, which is now hosted by the wonderful Jana @ The Artsy Reader Girl. Quite simply, you list the top ten of the topic prompt.

General, The 140 Character Review

The 140 Character Review: Welcome Back!

Guys, I read a lot books. I watch a lot of TV and film. I take into account other people’s opinions when I choose what to read and write, but I am quite bad at reviewing things myself. OK, I know not everyone is going to care what I think or what I say, but it’s nice to be able to give a little bit back to the bookish and TV/Film world, to review what I read/watch, and to keep a record of what it made me think at the time. This year, I’ve also set some pretty big goals and resolutions, namely reviewing everything I read, so I thought that a helping hand was needed.

So, with this in mind, I have decided to bring back my old blogging meme The 140 Character Review. Quite simply, it is a review that could be composed and completed within the length of a tweet (well, before they upped the character limit!) The time taken to review something in such a short format is a lot less than writing a full review, but it still captures my thoughts and feelings. I also find that writing with such a low count makes you think concisely and clearly about the media you have consumed.  Continue reading “The 140 Character Review: Welcome Back!”

Top Ten Tuesday: The Best of 2016 (pt. 2)

tttOK, so many of you (I say many…you know what I mean) may be feeling a sense of dejá vu right now. Yes, I have just posted a blog post with an identical title, all about books. But this year was a bad year of reading for me, so I also decided to do a TV shows and films one on a separate page.

For the (actual) final time this year, the lovely folks at Broke and Bookish team together to produce a book related topic each week, and you simply list the top ten of that topic.  For all you lovely people who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, or don’t know how to get involved. click here. If you’re a regular participant, or a newbie, you should also check out Bout of Books for a fun-filled New Year readathon!

General, The 140 Character Review

The 140 Character Review: Marvel TV

The 140 character review is a short and to the point tweet length review of, well, anything really (but mainly books, movies, live productions, and TV shows). It was born from a desire to review everything I watched, read, and saw, without committing to long length reviews.  To see more, click here.

Today, I have continued with one of my favourite collections: The Marvel Universe. I  decided to split it into 3 sections, Phase 1, Phase 2, and TV series, which will be released over 3 weekends. Two weeks ago, I reviewed Phase 1, last weekend was Phase 2, and this week I delve into the little screen: Continue reading “The 140 Character Review: Marvel TV”
