Amazon.co.uk’s 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime Tag

Hi everyone! How has your Saturday been? I think I am ready for February to be over now, because as much as I love jumpers and sweaters and blankets, I am not about cold winds, cold rain, or dark nights AND dark mornings. The sun this week has made me ready for spring. Thankfully, February has pancake day, it has just 28 days, and this year, it has the Winter Olympics. Emma and I are borderline Curling experts now! What is it about pushing stones, and then brushing some ice, that is so captivating?

Last week, I did a blog meme based on amazon.com’s 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime and it’s safe to say that I had not read many of the books on the list. I actually hadn’t heard of many of the books, embarrassingly, but also didn’t feel like it was a list that was truly reflective of what I thought a top 100 books should be, so I’ve also decided to do the amazon.co.uk list too.

1. Include a link back to Amazon’s official 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime
2. Tag Perfectly Tolerable, the creator of this meme
3. Tag the person who nominated you (I wasn’t nominated by anyone, but saw this on Lucinda is Reading)
4. Copy the list of books and indicate which titles you have read.
5. Tally up your total.
6. Comment on the post you were tagged in and share your total count.
7. Tag five new people and comment on one of their posts to let them know.

Let’s get on with the list: Continue reading “Amazon.co.uk’s 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime Tag”

Fat Friday: Week 20

The sun is shining and the weather is looking good. Is it the start of Spring? Is it a nice day in the middle of the winter? Who knows, who cares? It’s just nice to have some clear days! I wish the same could be said for my weight loss, a similar happy vibe, but unfortunately I can’t share such happy news on that front. I think I knew at the weekend that it was going to be a bad week, but it’s been a busy one, so I’ll have to grin and bear it.

Fat Friday is a weekly blog post tracking my weight loss and fitness journey, used to keep myself accountable, keep a record of my progress, and share hints & tips that have helped me. To track my progress, or read my previous entries, click here.

Please join me, support me, and help me along my way as I aim to improve my life for the better! Continue reading “Fat Friday: Week 20”

An Exercise Promise

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Yesterday was pancake day, an excuse to eat lots of unhealthy stuff and enjoy gorging on chocolate and lemon curd pancakes (not together, I promise!) and now that’s passed, we’re officially on the countdown to Easter. Traditionally, many of us give things up for Lent, myself included, but this year I’m going to do things a little differently.

Amazon.com’s 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime Tag

Good evening folks! It’s a bit of a chilly one this evening, isn’t it?! We’ve been pelted by hail stones all day, and been inside binge watching the curling (after Zumba of course!) What a crazy crazy life! I’m not feeling my best this evening, so I was having a little look at posts in my reader and stumbled across this fun, and simple, tag.

How to Play:

Book Riot Read Harder | 2018 Challenge

I absolutely love a good readathon or year long reading challenge, and in the past I have given the Book Riot Read Harder challenge a cursory go. In previous years I have struggled completing many of the challenges, and have quickly lost energy and motivation. I often found that I was trying to complete the challenges for the sake of it, and not because I actually enjoyed reading the books that fit. I looked at the 2018 list at the beginning of January and just felt that this year it was more manageable, and so I set about attempting to do what I have always failed to do before, and ‘read harder’. Howdy folks, and welcome! Welcome to Liz tracks her progress with Around the Year in 52 books in a public place! Yes, you’ve probably guess is, but for those who haven’t worked it out, I am attempting to complete the Around the Year in 52 Books Reading Challenge. This challenge, the details of which can be found in this Goodreads Group. The guys who run this awesome challenge have set up 52 unique challenges, one for each week of the year, which an option to wildcard a single challenge from another readathon to replace one that’s too hard or time consuming to complete.

24in48 Readathon | Updates

Hello fellow book lovers! Welcome to the world of 24in48, where there will be updates and reading abound (hopefully), snacking (definitely), and lots of chillaxing with a good book.

So with that in mind, what is it, how does it work, and who created this? Well, 24 in 48 has all the details, but simply, track reading as much as you can with the aim of it being 24hrs in 48hrs over the weekend. It’s low key, with few rules and even less pressure. You can read more, you can read less, it’s up to you. Once you’ve committed, sign up and track your own/other progress all over the internet.

In previous attempts, I’ve stuck to my own timezone, but I’m not so sure that’s a good idea this year, so, I think I’m going to shake it up a little bit this time, and do it on Eastern Time. I’ve always thought it best to do it on my own time, but I don’t want to miss out on the challenges, and it makes it easier to follow ‘hour 1, hour 2…’. We’ll see how it goes.

Bout of Books 21: Day 2

And we’re off, we’re on the second day of the readathon already. Did you manage to get some reading done yesterday? Did you do the challenge? Did you manage to join in with the twitter chat? Sadly I missed it as I have a very early start today and needed my rest, and it fell at 2am for me! Don’t forget, today is the last day that you can sign up, so make sure you added your link here.

I’m also a Bout of Books expert, here to help the lovely ladies at Bout of Books with all your readathon related enquiries, and to offer all round support and help for the readathon! So please, comment on my updates, and tweet me here!

T5W: 2018 Bookish Resolutions

Welcome to the beginning of a New Year, to promises we hope to keep, adventures we hope to take, and books we hope to read. 2018 is upon us, can you believe January is here? If I am honest, January is my least favourite month of the year. It’s cold, it’s wet, everyone is in a Christmas slump, it’s financially difficult, and let’s be honest, everyone is ratty on their post Christmas diets. So, this year I am going to try and get out of a January funk and actually enjoy doing things, starting with reading.

If you want to find out more, or take part in, Top 5 Wednesday, click here to find Lainey and Samantha’s Goodreads page.  Continue reading “T5W: 2018 Bookish Resolutions”
