The 140 Character Review: Series of Unfortunate Events 8-13

We’re just a few short days from the launch of A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2 on Netflix. I’m excited, and so to prepare, I’m micro-reviewing all of the books in the miserably amazing series. Last month, I looked at books 1-7, reviewing the undoubtedly tragic lives of the Baudelaire orphans, and so this Monday evening I’ve rounded the last 6 books up into one tidy list.

The 140 Character Review is my short and concise way of expressing my feelings on watch I watch and read. Throwing it back to the original twitter limit of 140 characters, I try to summarise my opinions to tweet length. To read other 140 Character Review posts, click here. The 140 Character Review: February 2018 in Books

Well that’s another month down, and another set of brand new books that have been enjoyed. February was a mixed month, it’s been cold, and windy, and short, and work has been busy, but I have read some really great stories and experienced some awesome writing. I’ve already fully reviewed some of the books that I have read in February, but I enjoy writing these mini reviews so here we are. I am hoping to be able to get some reading done this weekend, who wants to go out in this snow and cold weather if they can sit inside and read instead? Exactly!

The 140 Character Review: Series of Unfortunate Events 1-7

I absolutely love a good children’s book. Who doesn’t, right? Last year I embarked on a re-read of the full set of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and loved reliving the ridiculous and slightly out there stories surrounding the Baudelaire Orphans. The new Netflix Series starts next month, so, I thought I would do a 140 Character Review post to get ready for the launch. I’m so excited for season 2!

The 140 Character Review: January 2018 in Books

In 2017, I read over 120 books and reviewed every single thing I finished. I’m sure you’ll agree, that was quite an impressive feat?! Don’t get me wrong, I am really pleased that I have some recorded thoughts summarising everything I read, I found that writing a longer review for everything to be routine and something to do for my wrap post, rather than something to do for me. So this year I have decided to bring by the 140 Character Review to summarise everything I read – of course some will also have a longer review because I have too many feelings!

The 140 Character Review: Welcome Back!

Guys, I read a lot books. I watch a lot of TV and film. I take into account other people’s opinions when I choose what to read and write, but I am quite bad at reviewing things myself. OK, I know not everyone is going to care what I think or what I say, but it’s nice to be able to give a little bit back to the bookish and TV/Film world, to review what I read/watch, and to keep a record of what it made me think at the time. This year, I’ve also set some pretty big goals and resolutions, namely reviewing everything I read, so I thought that a helping hand was needed.

So, with this in mind, I have decided to bring back my old blogging meme The 140 Character Review. Quite simply, it is a review that could be composed and completed within the length of a tweet (well, before they upped the character limit!) The time taken to review something in such a short format is a lot less than writing a full review, but it still captures my thoughts and feelings. I also find that writing with such a low count makes you think concisely and clearly about the media you have consumed.  Continue reading “The 140 Character Review: Welcome Back!”

The 140 Character Review: Marvel TV

The 140 character review is a short and to the point tweet length review of, well, anything really (but mainly books, movies, live productions, and TV shows). It was born from a desire to review everything I watched, read, and saw, without committing to long length reviews.  To see more, click here.

Today, I have continued with one of my favourite collections: The Marvel Universe. I  decided to split it into 3 sections, Phase 1, Phase 2, and TV series, which will be released over 3 weekends. Two weeks ago, I reviewed Phase 1, last weekend was Phase 2, and this week I delve into the little screen: Continue reading “The 140 Character Review: Marvel TV”

The 140 character review – Welcome Back

I know I said that I was restarting this idea a couple of months ago, and then never actually did. But this time, I really am. I’m going to try and make it a regular Sunday posting on my blog. To give you an idea of what this is all about, click here.

I’ve also popped a few examples from posts gone by, with a link to the original 140 character review post: Continue reading “The 140 character review – Welcome Back”

The 140 Character Review: Reborn

Way back when I used to blog regularly, and have a vague theme to this madness, I used to periodically post a 140 character review. I enjoyed it, and it actually make me think a little bit about what I read and watched. And it took less time than producing a full review, but still made me feel like I had made an effort.

So I’m bringing it back…watch this space!
