The Guilty Reader Book Tag

I saw another one of those tags that just makes you want to answer the questions on Emma’s blog this week. Handily, Emma does a series called ‘Tag Thursday’, which is quite self explanatory, and provides a lot of post ideas and tags on a regular basis. I’m not actually sure who created it, but a big huge thanks! I like a good tag, so it’s nice to be able to close a couple in short succession! And on with it we go…

The Questions

1. Have You Ever Regifted A Book That You’ve Been Given?

Erm. Er….I really don’t know. I don’t think I have ever given a book I’ve received as a present, back as a gift. I’ve given them away to friends and family with no intention of claiming back, but I don’t actually think I have ever regifted. Continue reading

The Coffee Book Tag

So…I haven’t done a tag in a while, and decided that I liked this on my friend Emma’s blog, and thought it would be the perfect tag to get me back in the swing of things. It’s all about the coffee things, and as a caffeine addict, it seemed appropriate too. Let’s not hang around here, and get on with this show.

Black Americano

A book that’s hard to get into but has hardcore fans

Let’s be real here, pretty much any proper hard fantasy series falls in this category, George R R Martin and J R R Tolkein to name two. For me, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were difficult nuts to crack, but they have such a hardcore fan base that a record breaking set of films were created from their dedication. Now THAT is hardcore.

Peppermint Mocha

A book that gets more popular around Winter

Naturally, when the mind thinks of wintery books, things like Dicken’s A Christmas Carol jump to mind, but when I think of the ultimate winter read, I actually think of a children’s book – The Night before Christmas. I still think I can quote a lot of that, and think it is the best thing to read on Christmas Eve. Love it!

Book Haul #5

So, here we are again, looking at more photographs of books that I absolutely did not need but have acquired anyway! This has post has been quite a while in the pipeline now, so some of them I’ve actually already read and enjoyed! Not sure there needs to be anymore pre-amble, let’s get on with the show…

Friday Reads: Holiday TBR

Holidays are coming…Holidays are coming….I have holiday fever and I’m not afraid to let it show. I’ve had a difficult couple of months with one thing or another, and have been looking forward to this holiday for a little while now, so I’m glad it’s finally here!! And with a holiday comes time, enjoyment, excitement, and holiday reads. I am still taking part in #TheReadingQuest, so my holiday reads are to tie in with this. Or that’s the plan anyway!  Continue reading

July/August: It’s a Wrap

Well, this is a little late…oops. Not even gonna lie a little bit, I’m still struggling with blogging with any form of regularity, and as I still have a brace on my arm, typing still isn’t super simple. I wasn’t really in work in July, well the early part of the month, so I ended up reading a lot. Well, a lot for me, I don’t remember the last time I read over 20 books in one month. And I not only read new books, but discovered new authors *cough* Neil Gaiman *cough*, and took part in the 24in48 readathon. But yes, last month I posted my wrap post quite late, and also re-discovered new adult which most definitely carried on into this month.

Bout of Books 20: Day 7

Don’t look at me! I don’t want to be sad in front of you all. I hate that it’s the last day of Bout of Books 20. I hate hate hate it. Why does it have to ennnnnnd? At least I am off work today (for the first time since the readathon began) which should allow for some reading progress to be made later. I can’t decide how I feel about my progress during this readathon. Part of me feels like I haven’t done very well at all, and part of me feels like I’ve made really solid progress. Hopefully I read enough today to firmly put my feelings in the latter box. I also enjoyed what I could of the twitter chat yesterday, so I couldn’t be there fully for the whole thing!

How has your readathon gone? Have you read as much as you would like to have? What have you been reading this week?

Bout of Books 20: Day 6

I don’t wike it. Tomorrow is the end, and I don’t want the end already. I DON’T WIKE IT. (I realise that if you’re not as obsessed with Chris Evans as I am then this makes little to no sense, sorry). I saved myself from absolute irritation beyond measure last night by finishing a poetry collection, and d’you know what, I enjoyed it and I am a staunch believer that poetry is universally rubbish.

Today, there is lots of things to fill this sunny weekend day with. Reading, a great challenge, and of course a twitter chat. I have realised I am in work at 4pm local time to me when it is on (10am CST), but I am hoping to take my lunch to coincide with it. I don’t want to miss out. If not, I’ll sporadically be involved.
