Stay at Home Club’ Cosy Reading Night TBR

Helloooo fellow book lovers! The title of this post if pretty self explanatory, but, if you don’t know what cosy reading night is then you are in for a bit of a treat my friends! Hosted by the wonderful Lauren and the Books, cosy reading night is an opportunity to sit in a comfy corner, stock up on the snacks, and settle down with a good story. Sounds fabulous am I right? The world is a pretty crazy place right now, so it’s nice to have something to look forward to, keep us all in the house, and distract us from the dystopian film that is unfolding outside our front doors (check out my updates post here)!

So a litte bit more about the cosy reading night before I dive into the books I will be enjoying! Cosy reading night is a semi-regular night of reding fun hosted by Lauren. The ‘Stay at home club’ cosy reading night is taking place on 20th March (the day this is posted) between 7pm and 10pm GMT. As much as it is an opportunity to chill and read, it’s also a great opportunity to connect on twitter and Instagram under #cosyreadingnight. One of the things I absolutely love about this is that it is on British time. So many readathons and readalongs are hosted on a USA centric basis, so it is really nice to have a reading night based and accessible for my time zone.

As I mentioned above, the world is awash with Covid-19 related news, content, scaremongering, fact finding, isolation madness. It’s pretty much swept the globe up and everyone with it, and as someone who works in travel, is pretty inescapable at the moment. So it couldn’t have some at a better time, cosy-ing up under a blanket with a takeaway and some good books.

The Dragon Republic by R F Kuang

I am already reading this beast of a book, and really enjoying Kuang’s work. I don’t know how much I will listen to (because I am listening to the audiobook on the way to and from work). It’s always nice to have an audiobook option for when you get too tired to read an actual book.

Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed 

I have seen this on countless TBR lists and read loads of reviews of this recently and really want to give it a go. I picked it up a few weeks ago on a trip to Carlisle and think it might be the time.

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff 

I received this as a present last year and honestly after finished The Nevernight Chronicles took a while to pick up one of his books again. I feel like this could be my speed, so I might well crack this open tonight.

Macbeth by Jo Nesbø

I haven’t read a physical book in a while, and I could do with finally reading this as I got a NetGalley ARC of it so long ago I have since picked up a paperback copy. Thrillers are usually a good way to read again!

So yeah, that is my Friday evening planned. It’s probably not the most exciting weekend anyone had heard of, but Emma and I are looking forward to it and we have prepared by eating a takeaway to keep us going throughout the evening!
