So….do you remember when I said I struggled with reading challenges in this post last week? Remember when I said I was only going to do one year long one and it was going to be this Around the Year in 52 Books one? Yeah….it lasted precisely 3 days into 2019 because I stumbled across this reading challenge that my friend Paige has set up. It’s designed to fit with what you want to read (after all Paige couldn’t find a reading challenge that worked for her so she set this up) whilst pushing the boundaries and opening genres, tropes, authors, and content you may previously have avoided or missed all together. Sounds pretty simple eh?
First things first, Paige. Well she is awesome, that’s a given, and she explains this readathon over on her announcement post @ Just One More Pa(i)ge, her twitter @just1morepaige, and her Instagram @just.one.more.paige, so go and check her out, follow her, and then sign up too. There are 12 challenges in total, one for each month, so it’s not too taxing and should fit with a normal reading schedule and along side reads you already have planned without taking over. There is also a handy #justonemorepaigereadingchallenge2019 on Twitter and Instagram, so check those out to see how others are doing!

June: Pride Month

July: 4th of July Political Woke-ness in the US

September: Constitution and Citizenship Day (Sept 17)
read a book by an immigrant/refugee
October: Bullying Prevention Month

November: Nonfiction November
read a nonfiction book (bonus point: if the book is by an American Indian author, as it’s also American Indian Heritage Month)
December: End of Year Happy Days
read a rom-com or other positive feels book (to end the year on a positive note…also, we have fun “naming” this month)
Throughout the year I am planning to update this master post and my reading journal with the books I read and their rating for each challenge, and link to any reviews written about the novel. I am hoping that this reading challenge will expand my reading for the better without taking the fun out of finding new things to experience. It should also help me with some of the more challenging prompts in the Around the Year in 52 Books challenge list!
Are you signing up for this awesome reading challenge?
Do you have any suggestions for any of the months?
OH MY GOSH – thank you so much for sharing this (and for all the super duper nice things you said – oh my heart!). I can’t wait for this reading year and to see what books everyone decides on!

This is DEFINITELY a challenge that I’m keen on. I’m looking to participate in more this year so it’s kind of fate that you posted this just as I was quite literally looking for something new. So, thanks for sharing!

Awesome!!! That’s the best kind of coincidence ever. It’s a really good balance of stretching but not too hard i think. I can’t wait 😊
