The Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

You guys I have been tagged. Not just by one person, but by two, and that means I cannot possibly not do this tag soon. So, here we are on a bloody freezing Friday evening doing a Christmassy bookish tag to find out whether I have been naughty 😈 or nice πŸ˜‡! There are a few rules, and what not, but first, let me thank Emma and Jenna for tagging me!

– Tag & link the person who tagged you
– Tag and link me/this post (if you would be so kind, I love reading your answers!)
– Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
– Tag another 10 people!

1. Received and ARC and not reviewed it 😈

Erm, yeahhhhhh. So I really like getting ARCs and have applied for a few on NetGalley, I’ve even received a couple of physical ones, but the time between applying and receiving them almost always means I lose interest and so yeah, I have a few unread ARCs around.

2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley 😈

At the time of writing, I am reading an ARC that will take my review rating to 59% when I finish it (it’s currently at 53%). I’ve really tried to improve on this, but actually writing it down is a little embarrassing so I clearly need to work a little harder at it!

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on you blog and then never did it πŸ˜‡

I don’t really do this, and certainly don’t remember ever putting it as I tend to review on my blog and then transfer the review over if I remember. I don’t think to review automatically on Goodreads.

4. Folded down the page of a book 😈

I do this all the time, whether it’s to remember a bit I like or to mark a page. I dog ear corners, I’ve folded pages, I am definitely guilty of this.

5. Accidentally spilled on a book 😈

I mean, if you’re being honest and taking a hard look at yourself, who hasn’t accidentally dropped a book in the bath, or got biscuit crumbs stuck in the spine, or smeared chocolate on a page, or spilled a bit of a drink that was too full when you picked it up.

6. DNF a book this year 😈

I have, and this pains me because I am not someone who usually DNFs books. I am not against the idea of DNFing at all, I don’t think it should be classified as naughty because persevering through something you aren’t enjoying is pretty stupid when you could be reading and finishing something you really want to read and will enjoy.

7. Bought a book because it was pretty with no intention of ever reading it πŸ˜‡

I don’t really do this. Whether I am just good at kidding myself that I will actually finish everything I buy, or only buy books I am genuinely interested in reading, I don’t buy a pretty book if I have absolutely no intention of ever finishing it.

8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework) 😈

I mean, who hasn’t. I used to read when I was supposed to be doing homework, I hid books in textbooks at school, I sometimes read at work (between calls, not when I am supposed to be taking them), I read when I am on an early shift and should have gone to bed hours ago, I read instead of doing chores.

9. Skim read a book πŸ˜‡

I haven’t ticked this because I speed read which means that I am sort of skim reading everything I read, but it’s not something I consciously choose to do. I don’t purposely skim read anything.

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal πŸ˜‡

Nope, I set achieveable Goodreads goals that I also think will challenge me, I even sometimes extend them mid year if I have hit it super early.

11. Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library 😈

I’d love to say no, but I have a book on my shelf that still has my secondary school library stamp on the pages. I let the school 9 years ago so that says a lot. I don’t think there are any others though.

12. Broke a book buying ban 😈

I’m always supposed to be on a book buying ban. Yes, I have got a lot better about buying less books than last year, but I have and still do break book buying bans with regularity.

13. Started a review, left it for ages, and then forgotten what the book is about πŸ˜‡

I’ve never started a review and not finished it before I forgot what the book was about. I have forgotten to review a book altogether but never started and then left it too long to remember the plot.

14. Wrote in a book you were reading 😈

Yes, I did this a lot in school. I liked writing notes and things that would be useful for essays and stuff. I’m not opposed to this really, I just don’t really do it. I like reading a book after someone who does this to try and work out why they’ve chosen to write what they have and what made them think that.

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads πŸ˜‡

I use my Goodreads to track all my reading. The only reason it wouldn’t be added to my Goodreads is if it wasn’t a book that was published and added to the Goodreads database (like self-published or friend’s Manuscript or something similar)

16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend 😈

I probably have done this, so I have ticked it. I definitely have done this with my parents.

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book 😈

No, I am all for sharing the book love and I am pretty good about lending people books that I own. I am not embarrassed about asking for books back you see so I will out right say to give it back if I want to.

18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book πŸ˜‡

Nope, mainly because I don’t do it with my own so I am not about to do it to someone else’s book. I am a bit in the camp of don’t lend your book out if you would be devastated if someone did, but I couldn’t do it personally to someone else’s book.

19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up doing more damage πŸ˜‡

I’ve never taken a jacket off a book and actually done more damage, but I have put it down somewhere and thought I would damage it if I didn’t move it. I’ve definitely had some jackets go back on a book in a less than perfect condition, but they did often come off like this.

20. Sat on a book accidentally 😈

I don’t think I’ve ever sat on a book accidentally but I’ve sure fell asleep on one before now and ended up lying flat on it.

Soooo, there we have it. I have managed to tick off twelve as naughty 😈, and 8 as nice πŸ˜‡, that’s not so good is it? Please still bring me book

I have a confession that I am really crap at tagging people and usually just say if you fancy it, tag yourself and let me know, but this specifically says 10 people (please feel free to ignore if you’re not interested/have done it before! I am pretty sure I have seen it on at least one person’s blog, sorry in advance!)
