Fat Friday: Weeks 45-50

Good evening folks, and welcome back. I hope you’re all well, it’s been a little while hasn’t it? Fact is, I was burnt out and a little disillusioned with a lot of things, but a break and a holiday has done me good and I’m on a countdown and push to my next holiday to Disney in 6 weeks! So the message is Fat Friday is most definitely back and I’m hoping to get some weight shifted and improved fitness ready for my holiday.

Fat Friday is a weekly blog post tracking my weight loss and fitness journey, used to keep myself accountable, keep a record of my progress, and share hints & tips that have helped me. To track my progress, or read my previous entries, click here.

It’s been a couple of weeks, and in that time a lot has happened. I’ve had lots to do at work, some good and some not so good. I’ve had a full month at work followed by a 10 day break and a holiday. I’ve eaten pretty unhealthily in comparison to my previous Fat Friday weeks, and I haven’t really exercised, well, at all except walking. I think I really needed it. I needed a bit of time not thinking about dieting and eating healthily and losing weight and fitness because it was too much on the top a busy working month and then not really suitable on my holiday, I took a break from all things Fat Friday.

And now I’m back. I have 6 weeks until my next holiday, and I would really like to try and get quite close to 3 stone lost. I know that’s a lot, but friends at work are dieting and doing really well, my parents are going away just after Emma and I so are also focusing on health at the moment, and Emma is always willing to go to the gym/a class with me and suffer my cooking, so I have the right foundations. Disney in Florida is hot, even at the end of October/beginning of November, and there is a fair distance to cover every day when walking around the various theme parks that we’ll be visiting, so weighing less and feeling fitter will improve my mood and ultimately my trip immeasurably. If I can work hard now, I will also feel less guilty for indulging while I am there, something that will inevitably happen.

How are you going to do it this time? Well, I’m going to go back to the good old method of eating less and exercising more. Giving up bread when I didn’t work out worked really well, and losing weight happened, but I hated it and if I am going to keep this up I need something that’s doable. So, snacking is going. Eating anything that’s not healthy is going. Fizzy drinks are going, and I am going to try and keep my caffeine intake down. I’m going to try and work out at least 3 times a week, up to 5 if I can, but at least 2 or 3, and i am going to try and mix it up a little bit with zumba, the gym, running, maybe even swimming and spinning again, and potentially even weights. I’ve been reading a lot about the benefits of lifting weights a woman to keep you metabolism raised and to improve muscle tone to feel fitter.

I have a few healthy eating recipe books to add to the mix too. Lean in 15 has been added to my bookshelf for a long time, and I like them, but haven’t tried to many of the recipes, so now is the time to start mixing up the new with the old and finding things that travel to work easily. I’ve also just bought Doctor’s Kitchen. Dr Rupy is dedicating time and effort into creating scientifically based healthy diets, and I think that seeing the reasoning behind it, and mixing and matching with Joe Wick’s recipes will create a really good diet.

I’ve made the decision to reset the this week counter. I’ve had over a month of not doing Fat Friday, too long to have a this week weight loss counter, so I’m effectively restarting. I’ve still lost 28lbs/2 stone, which feels like a good place to re-start.

WEIGHT: This week: N/A Total: -28lb

EXERCISE: 0 Sessions

MOOD: Refreshed

RECIPE/FOOD/SNACK of the week: Dolce Gusto Chococcino

HINTS/TIPS of the week: Drink a glass of water when you wake up

Let’s go. I’ve got 6 weeks to get cracking again. Any ideas and support are always appreciated.

  1. Yay, Fat Friday is back! I’ve really missed this feature! Have you tried boxing/boxercise? I did it for a while and it nearly killed me but it was a great overall workout. Hope you had a fabulous holiday my lovely! 💚
