Book Box Club | Unboxing May 2018

Welcome back to Liz unboxes things! Yep, I am finally getting around to posting unboxing Book Box Club crates from months ago that frankly are too good to deserve such a shamefully long time between delivery and review, but here we are anyway! I recently reviewed April’s Fallen Angels box, the first I received, and it was really great. I signed up for a single month subscription with the absolute thought that I’d probably cancel it. Now, this isn’t because the box isn’t great – it really it – but rather because I am trying to reduce the amount I am spending ahead of holidays in the second half of the year. The I saw the theme and decided that I absolutely had to have it…

Book Box Club is a secret society YA subscription box that is sent monthly and features a specially selected, hot-off-the-press YA book release selected by the ladies in the know and owners Libby and Kate. The box features 4-6 specially curated bookish items, is wrapped beautifully and delivered reliably on time, and features an exclusive ‘Clubhouse’ invite to chat with the author whose book features in the box.

Theme: Stargazers

The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton

Description: The destiny of a decaying kingdom lies in the hands of a prophecy-obsessed king. As the monarch fades, which of his three fierce daughters will claim the crown? And will the new Queen be able to save Innis Lear from what has been written in the stars? Gaze into our mesmerizing May book and find out!

Folks, I cannot even begin to describe how pretty this book is. The deep blue is stunning, the gold foiling, the script used for the title, yeah they nailed this. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet as I have been immersed in some other stories and this is a meaty novel, but my friend Emma did borrow it, like it, and review it, so it hasn’t sat unloved!

This book came with a Clubhouse invite, as all Book Box Club boxes do, personally addressed to me that had an invititation to join an exclusive chat with the author Tessa Gratton.

Stargazers Unboxed

Each Book Box Club features a themed spoiler card. This devastatingly stunning card has all the information relating to the creators and the items featured in the box. I said last time that I was considering collecting them, and with this in my grubby mitts, I know that’s the case, it’s beautiful!

Shakespeare’s Mirror

This mirror is really pretty and really useful. I’m not hugely into the Bard, but the book is inspired by some of his work, so it’s a great nod to the retelling. The mirror is made by Book Box Club themselves, which is also pretty awesome, and is a lovely size to slip into any bag!

Professor Trelawney Magnetic Bookmark

I’ve never owned any of these bookmarks, which I now know is a mistake because this is equal parts awesome and cute. I like that this theme is being showcased in different ways, Trelawney is very much the first person I think of when the word prophecy is dropped.

Constellation Socks

I am a sock fiend guys, there is no way of hiding it, so these are pretty much the best things ever. I love the stars, I love constellations, so to have some printed on socks is just the coolest. They’re so soft!

Felis Constellation Pin

Confession time: I’m not really all that into pins, I usually don’t find them cute or interesting and don’t get them. But y’know what, this is adorable and awesome and cute and I didn’t know I needed it in my life. I need to find a way to display it somewhere…hmmm…

To The Stars Who Listen

I’ve never read A Court of Thorns and Roses, or in fact anything by Sarah J. Maas, but dang this is a pretty pouch. I am always looking for things that help me pack when I travel (I am lucky enough to travel semi-regularly) and this exclusive will prove invaluable when packing make-up, hair things, or electricals.

Bookish Extras

Bloomsbury, Penguin Random House, and Scholastic have also popped in some bookish merch for recently released and upcoming titles. I absolutely love the bookmark for The Smoke Thieves and have a feeling that this is a book I will end up buying in the near future.

The item of the month for this month’s box is:

Constellation Socks

Coming soon: June’s Book Box Club unboxing! The theme is Bad Girls!

  1. The Queens of Innis Lear has such a gorgeous cover! I hadn’t heard of it before, but I’ll have to add it to my TBR. I also love those socks 😍 (I may have a novelty sock obsession).

  2. Queen of innis lear is one of the books I’m contemplating reading next (in my quest to read the books already on my kindle!) and I did not know it was a Shakespeare retelling?!

      1. I think it’s one of those things that you don’t realise until you realise and then you’re like duh, how did I ever not realise?
I used realise too many times in one sentence there!
