Fat Friday: Week 40

Good evening one and all, how are we? How are you coping with the heat? I don’t remember the last time it rained in Liverpool, and I am not complaining about this absolutely glorious weather. It’s so nice to have a block of good weather, to be able to have a level of complacency that you know what the weather is like and don’t need to take a jacket or umbrella, and the ability to know that the weather will be sticking around until your next day off.

Fat Friday is a weekly blog post tracking my weight loss and fitness journey, used to keep myself accountable, keep a record of my progress, and share hints & tips that have helped me. To track my progress, or read my previous entries, click here.

Well there is no denying it has been another hot one, so I’ve tried to make the most of it and enjoy the weather because we don’t get this all the time. I went to Dobbies with my Mum and Gran and enjoyed sitting in the warmth with a drink. It’s that kind of thing that is really nice to do in this weather. Emma and I pottered around the house and had a nice evening off, finished reading for various reading challenges, and just generally had a day off from anything. Emma also introduced me to Pieminister pies, and I have the say that they are goooooood.

Sunday wasn’t quite so quiet as we set out for Delamere forest for a walk in the warm weather. It was pretty incredible, sunny, warm, and pretty much the perfect day. Delamere is partially covered so we were somewhat protected from the sun, and there was such a nice breeze blowing. I really like getting out and walking especially in the sun so it was a perfect day out, we enjoyed great views, ice cream, a picnic, and it felt good to get out and about instead of wasting time indoors/doing nothing.

There is not a lot worse than being in work in this weather, but I have had early shifts and days off this week that has broken it up and allow me to enjoy the sun in the middle of the week. The tennis at Wimbledon has started and the world cup is reaching the latter stages, so I’ve enjoyed watching matches in my breaks and lunches, and have had something to aim for at the end of my shift. I am still settling into my sales role, but I’m starting to understand it a lot more and find my feet. I still need to learn to bring food and prepare meals for when I am in work, but that’s something to aim for.

I had a mid week day off this week, so Emma booked it off work as well, and we had a bit of a treat day. It’s been so long since we went to the Tavern, and even though I’m trying to be good, it was nice to have a bit of a blow out. Unhealthy food and bread just tastes that much better when you haven’t eaten it in a while. We didn’t go too crazy at Cheshire Oaks, we perused the shops but largely steered clear of frivolous purchases (ish, kinda, sort of). We did both pick things up in Radley and Skechers, and enjoyed buying coffee and candles – not something we really needed but that we wanted.

I spent the end of the week sorting and tidying. The house was starting to slide away from us a little bit recently, or at least my room and the dining room were, so I had a bit of a blitz. I re-tidied my room and had a major sort out, which resulted in a complete wardrobe re-order and getting rid of 3 bin bags worth of clothes (yep, 3 bin bags and I still have lots of choice!) It looks much better in my room and has made me feel much calmer already. I did most of the washing up (helped by my parents when they came round to paint the fence). The kitchen looks tidier and cleaner, as does the front room. The dining room was a step too far in this heat, but the house as a whole it much better now.
