Well well guys, it’s no longer January (aka the longest month of the year, the month that never ends, the month that is made for us to be poor), which means it is time of the first wrap post of the year. January has previously been the month that I read hard in, where I shift through a huge stacks of books, and take part in a load of readathons. January 2018 has been a lot busier in my life than was initially expected, so I haven’t read quite as much as January’s gone by, but I took part in Bout of Books and the 24in48 Readathon and I also joined an awesome online book community of book bloggers and YA readers called Crone Bloggers.
I have made the decision to shake it up and change the content of my wrap posts for 2018. Last year, I wrote a mini review for every single book I read, and while I enjoyed having this snippet to look back on, I found that I didn’t have the stats and information I wanted for my end of year review. Instead of posting these small reviews with my wrap posts, I’ve opted for more quantifiable data, and reviewing elsewhere. Each book will have a small review that will be found within my 140 Character Review section, and an e-ARCs or emotive reads will have their own dedicated review posts. Once I’ve review each book, I will place a small link next to the book title that will take you straight through to the review itself.
Now, without further ado, let’s get on with the show:
In January, I read 8 books, which is 2591 pages, and all of which are new reads to me.
I read 1 non-fiction and 7 fiction books, a mix of memoirs, thriller/mysteries, children’s classics, and YA fantasy.
By Format, I read 3 Audiobooks, 3 Paperbacks, 1 Hardback, and 1 E-Book/ARC.
The average rating was 4.1/5 Stars for all of the books that I read in January.

I was going to do a ‘Book of the Month‘ section, but this month, there would be two, so, it’s a double book of the month for January:
Exile by James Swallow | The Loneliest in the Universe by Lauren James
I think you’ll agree that this month has been relatively successful. I have stayed away from any re-reads, and each book that I have read so far this month have counter towards either/both the Around the Year in 52 Books and Book Riot Read Harder challenges. I’ve read and enjoyed the majority of what I have read this month and have found a lot of enjoyment in reading a variety of genres.
How has your January gone? What did you read?
Have you read any of these books? What did you think?
Are taking part in any readathons or reading challenges?
